Museum Collections

Memorial flat of I.D.Sytin has been preserving and maintaining a unique collection of monuments of material culture and the most valuable documents of the late 19th — early 20th centuries for more than 20 years. The whole collection contains over 1400 samples of printed production, 44 anniversary addresses, 62 household items and furniture, 22 paintings and sculptures, as well as more than 400 storage units of Sytin`s family archive. The uniqueness of the collection is that it is a single whole, restoring and conveying to the viewer the spirit of the era of the early 20th century. Household items are highly artistic works of the Art Nouveau era, selected with the love of a knowledgeable person and a collector.

The publications reflect the preferences and interests of their time, and the wooden printing press immerses us in the publishing business of 100 years ago. Archive of I.D.Sytin memorial flat is unique evidence of the worldview of the book publisher’s contemporaries and plays a significant cultural, public and social role in the history of the city.
